(Not that I actually rank them, but if I did, this one would be up there!)
Since we moved two weeks ago, our family has been insanely busy. The Nickster has been such a good sport, letting us take him to this prayer meeting and that friend's house and this home improvement store. But I know that he needs time to settle into his "new house," as he calls it, and receive undivided attention from me.
So I decided that we would make cookies together for the first time! No-bake cookies, because when I bake cookies they end up burnt and flat. Every time. ("Eh-wee time," as Nicholas would say.)
I measured out all the ingredients beforehand and then we "baked."
The little makeshift apron. His absolute LOVE for stirring the ingredients together.
My heart was melting from the very first moment.
He got to pour the ingredients into the bowl (with a little help from me).
He stirred the mixture, helped me flatten the cookies with a spoon.
The proverbial icing on the cake? Nicholas placing chocolate chips on the cookies before we let them sit in the refrigerator. This looked like him putting chocolate chips on the cookie, eating a few right off of that same cookie, and then adding some more. Because how else should it be done?
The mess and the amount of chocolate chips Nicholas consumed was absolutely worth how much fun we had. It was one of those motherhood moments that you hope will be magical, and it actually was.
If you're interested, HERE is the cookie recipe we used. They were delicious!
