A Little Gift

Life as a mom can be overwhelming.
Tasks pile up, I often feel like I don't know what I'm doing at all, and kids can be demanding. Some days it is easy to succumb to exhaustion and frustration.

But in the midst of it all, I don't want to forget the treasure that Nicholas is and what a privilege it is to be his mother.
Each day that I get to be his mama is a day to unwrap another part of the present. Underneath the wrapping paper is another facet of his personality, another interest or dislike, another source of joy to discover! The more time I spend with him, the more I get to see him learn, grow, and become the person that God created him to be. There are surprises at times, and that is part of the fun of opening the gift.

What a joy to wake up every day knowing that there is a funny, chatty, fuzzy-headed little present waiting for me to unwrap. Sometimes I wake up a little earlier than I'd like to in order to open my present, but I guess a little less sleep is worth it ;)
