The Internet, Jesus, and Friends (A "Girl Behind the Blog" Video Blog!)

When I started this blog almost a year ago, I was kind of a mess inside. I had some amazing people around me and God has really worked in my heart - and so today I'm a little less brittle and a lot more aware of the faithfulness of God. (Disclaimer though - I'm still pretty darn far from perfect.)

I'm excited to share with you today what the Lord has done in my life over this past year of blogging, with an emphasis on how He has used the blogging community! Yes, it's true - God used the internet to heal my heart :) Well, it's a little bit more involved than that, but maybe that will get you to watch my video...

Music: Bethany Dillon "Beautiful" from the So Far Acoustic Sessions

Truth be told, I had to stifle some tears after shooting this video. It may be because I'm currently weaning my child and I'm a hormonal crazy woman (TMI?). But it could also be that reflecting on God's goodness in my life this last year makes me weepy. (Feelers unite!)

Are you a part of any online "community?" How have you been blessed through reading blogs, being a part of social media, or other types of online dealies?

  2. Oh my goodness. Everything that you said was just so beautifully said. I love that you say, it doesn't matter if the blogger is single, with kids, without kids, different family background, from another country... it's just neat to see how other people "do" life. SO true. & I like that you added that part about wanting to be or look like someone else. It's not about that. It's about being inspired. -- Some really really great points you brought up here. Loved this. =)

  6. You are one of the moms I talk about in my blog - Your heart, your realness I just love. That learning of the ministry of being a mom is definitely a growing experience. A lot less showered, yes. THAT. Me too.

  7. Wonderful post Mackenzie!

Your words about "comparing" were so fresh to hear, as this is something I have struggled with since being a mom. It seems that no matter where you are in mom-stages as a do-er (which I am) I see how knowing not to get caught up in "comparing" is so important for your health as a mom & as a believer... great encouragement, thank you!

  10. Mackenzie, You are such a natural speaker! I think you were able to say more in those 4 minutes than I've been able to say in the last 2 years of blogging.

I've already been a follower of yours for a while now, but I've got to say...I'm definitely going to be more of a regular now. I feel like I've been rediscovering such wonderful blogs lately.
You have a such a beautiful heart.

  11. I think God works in amazing ways... in the beginning you say you were healing from a C section but also some tough life events...it's almost as if the Lord used blogging to heal you physically and emotionally. I feel so blessed to have SO many awesome Christian mamas to look up to

  15. I don't comment much. I guess I'm a "lurker". :) but I just want to say that you are so sweet and encouraging. I loved the words you spoke about not comparing ourselves to other women online and offline. I'm afraid that's one of the main reasons I don't blog more myself. I LOVE to write and I know I have good things to write about. But I always think, "well someone is doing it better already. why should I try?" it's just not truth. we all have unique stories and I'm so glad you shared part of yours!! :)

  16. You might be a pint-sized mama but you don't have a pint-sized purpose! God is up to BIG things in your life - and your sweet spirit + truth from the LORD just shines through this video. I love it. I love you!

  19. i love this! it's harmful when we use the online world as an escape from our real lives or as another method of comparison. the goal is to glorify Christ. i love seeing how different women from different places with different backgrounds can give great glory to our God. it inspires me to chase Him so much more! love you, Mackenzie!
