Pint-Sized Moments: Secretly Shopping For Yourself in the Kids Section

question

Someday Nicholas is going to be embarrassed when he goes shopping with me. When you see someone in a store shopping with their child, you'd think that they are looking in the kids section to find clothes for their baby. Most of the time you would be correct. But if you see me shopping in the kids section, you know that I have another (secret) agenda. As I browse the baby section for clothes for Nicholas, in the back of my mind I am making a plan to pop over to the girls section to find clothes for myself.

At least now that I have a child it's not quite so awkward to thumb through the girls size 12 pants - I could be shopping for a friend's daughter! Or myself. But no one has to know! It's hard to be 4'8" and shop in the women's section. That would be like a normal sized woman shopping at a giant store, if there were such things as giants. I will say that it is hard to find a pair of pants in the girl's section that doesn't have a glittery butterfly on the butt. And I will also confess that even though the girls size pants are usually small enough to fit me, I still have to hem them about 6 inches.

Now that I'm post-baby I don't think I'll be shopping in the girl's section for pants for quite some time, if ever. I do miss the pants being about half as expensive as the ladies sizes. But every now and then I take a quick peek through the racks, just out of habit. Oh the joys of being 4' 8".

Can any other pint-sized ladies out there relate with me on this one?

  3. You are not alone!!! I am pregnant with my 2nd child (i'm 4'11") so at 28 weeks I feel like a ompa loompa! I use to always shop for kids pants cheaper pants means you get to buy more shoes! Now my hips are too wide for them so i'll have to resort to finding new stores to carry short lengths! BTW you are beautiful and so is that little boy!
