Milestones: A 5 Foot Party & Head-Lifting

Growing up, I always wanted to have a "5 Foot Party" - a party for when I finally hit 5' tall. I envisioned all the people from my childhood and young-adulthood coming together to celebrate me finally being a normal type of short, not the freaky type of short that I am. But sadly, I never got to have that party. I had bets going with people that I would hit 5'...I'm pretty sure I owe a few people some money.

But I'm excited to celebrate 2 different milestones today: #1 - Nicholas has been sleeping in his own room for the last few nights! I'm pretty sure I put up much more of a protest than he did. It was a big step for me to let him be "independent" but I think it was a good step. Brian rolled his eyes as I asked him a million times "do you think he's warm enough?" and "will you go check on him?" Luckily I'm becoming less paranoid. #2 - Nicholas lifted up his head! His head is a little bigger than average. :) So when we lay him down on his tummy he usually protests and then just lays there with no motivation to do anything but lounge. We do all sorts of silly things to try and make him use his fat little arms to prop up his big ol' noggin. But then a few days ago Nicholas finally lifted up his head! I was sitting above him and he tried oh so hard to lift up his little blonde head to see where I was. He looked from side to side a few times, looked up at me, and then laid his head back down. What a work-out! Brian and I are so proud. Maybe a little too proud, but hey, what's a mom for but to be your kids biggest cheerleader?
