Pint-Size and Pregnant #2 - What to Wear?!

It's a moment I'll remember for the rest of my life: when that digital pregnancy test blinked "Pregnant." I was overjoyed and in disbelief. After the initial shock wore off a little bit, it hit me - what am I going to wear?! It's not like they make maternity jeans for children! Oh yes, before I was pregnant I had never owned a pair of women's sized jeans. I've been wearing kids size pants. That I have to hem about 5 inches. Do you know how hard it is to find jeans without a glittery butterfly on the butt?

So today is a little guide on what I wore, and what to wear if you're also a small pregnant mama. Also, my husband and I live on a very limited budget, so these items were all very cheap!

#1: Heidi Klum "Loved" line by Motherhood Maternity

This line is the only one at Motherhood Maternity that carried XS sizes (at least when I was shopping there.) I had to drive 2 hours to get to Motherhood, so it was my only option!

#2: Dresses & Leggings

The great thing about dresses is that you don't have to buy actual maternity dresses for them to fit you for awhile! Just throw on a pair of leggings as your belly grows so your dress doesn't get too short! I chose non-maternity size small dresses with empire waists at Ross and TJ Maxx. As the months wore on and my belly got HUGE, I wore leggings from Target.

Purple dress is a bridesmaids dress from Delias that I had to get specially altered. Not cheap :( . This is me and my 2 pregnant sisters at my twin brother's wedding.

#3: Forever 21 Maternity Line "Love 21"

You may only be able to find select Forever 21 stores with this line, but it is a really cheap alternative for maternity clothes, and they come in XS and Small sizes! I found some really cute and comfortable t-shirts for $12.50, and the similar ones at Motherhood Maternity were $40!

I also found out (too late) that H&M carries maternity clothes. Maybe for the next baby!

#4. Customize Your Own Clothing!

Buy cheap t-shirts from Target or Walmart that are long (this is easy for me!) Get some fabric paint, and voila!

Random Items That Are A Bit Embarrassing:

- Capri maternity jeans from Target that fit me as long pants. Yup, I'm that small

- Yoga pants from American Apparel that I hemmed....like 8 inches? In XS.

- Size Medium shirts and turtleneck sweaters. It was the first time I could wear a Medium! I chose long enough styles to cover my bum when I wore leggings.

- Kids pants WITH a Belly Band. This didn't last very long, but I could keep my kids size jeans unbuttoned with a Belly Band to keep them up :) Belly Bands can be found in lots of places. Mine was from Target.

What were your favorite maternity pieces when your little ones were camped out in your belly?
